Dbrand wants us to "touch grass" again with these Switch 2 skins, but the joke's on them as I'm a fan

dbrand is pretty well known for its 'edgy' humour just as much as it is for being behind some of the best Nintendo Switch 2 accessories I tested shortly after the handheld's original launch. This humor gets even edgier once April Fools Day rolls around, and last year dbrand announced it wanted us all to "Touch Grass" with its line of flocked, grassy skins for everything from the newer Ninty handheld to the Steam Deck.

Now that the day of fools has rolled around once more, dbrand wants us all to "Touch Grass Again" but this time it's thrown in an extra free Blue Sky skin. For $19.95 at dbrand, you get a decal for your Switch 2 Joy-Cons that allows you to 'feel' grass (it's actually electrostatic flocking similar to what many Warhammer fans use to create terrain) and one that matches a partially cloudy blue sky. These may have been announced on April 1, 2026, but both skins are as real as the brand's handheld accessories, and I actually kinda dig them both.

The "Touch Grass" Nintendo Switch 2 skin includes a set of full coverage decals that you can place on the Joy-Con controllers. Each order includes a microfiber cloth, along with the additional Blue Sky skin set. If you haven't made the next-gen leap quite yet, the skins are also available for the Switch, Switch Lite, and Switch OLED.View Deal

If you'd rather pop these dbrand skins on a Nintendo Switch 2 Pro controller than your new pricey handheld, they're still readily in stock in the US and UK right now.

When I first caught a glance of last year's "Touch Grass" campaign, I not only assumed it was just an April Fools joke, but that any skin of its sort would just be a cheap image of a grassy texture. To my pleasant surprise, in both accounts, the skins were not only real but actually provided a grassy texture as they used a flocking technique to attach a ton of tiny polyethylene strands to the skins.

I've seen my partner use a similar method to create bases for his Warhammer miniatures, and it results in a pretty funky consistency, even if it doesn't remotely feel like the real thing. Talking of which, if you're worried that these tiny strands would fall off while you're playing Pokemon Pokopia, don't be. Dbrand states that the Touch Grass skins contain "over 1,000 strands of fake grass" and if some happen to fall off, there's "still plenty more" where they came from.

That's actually where I'd be a little concerned to stick this skin on my Joy-Cons, as I don't like the idea of thousands of tiny strands falling off my Switch 2 and lining the interior of my Switch 2 case. That's why I feel much more partial to the included 'Blue Sky' skin, that and its design reminds me of the opening to The Simpsons.

If you're a bit partial to these April Fool's Day designs, you can only buy them directly from dbrand while supplies last. They're also available for a huge list of devices besides just the Nintendo Switch 2. You can touch grass or gaze at the sky with your Steam Deck, Xbox Series X, Asus ROG Ally X handheld, and even your smartphone too.

There's also an option to grab the skin for the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro controller, which is a neat addition. Officially, there's only two versions of the gamepad, the basic black and gray design or the Resident Evil Requiem version, which has a pretty subtle newspaper pattern on the front. These skins would make the pad look far more interesting than anything Nintendo has officially resealed so far.

While these Touch Grass Again skins are real, to be careful out there. The internet is overwhelmed with equally 'edgy' announcements that are not as real as they might appear at first glance.
