Pokemon Pokopia's storage system is more complicated than it needs to be, and players hope it copies Animal Crossing: New Horizons 3.0 in a future update

Pokemon Pokopia is a fantastically crafty life sim with the familiar faces of creatures we all know and love, but there's one particular thorn that's been stuck in pretty much every players' side: the messy storage system.

Pokemon Pokopia gives every player a limited amount of space to store items in Ditto's trusty bag, which you can eventually expand using the in-game PC shop. But anything that still doesn't fit will need to be stuffed into storage boxes, craftable inventories that can hold up to 20 items in stacks of 99, or big storage boxes that can hold 60 items in stacks of 99.

It's the Animal Crossing or Stardew Valley way, except there's a couple big differences here. First, is that Pokopia has much bigger worlds than anything you'll find on an Animal Crossing: New Horizons island, for example. Then there's the fact that you can only craft with stored items if a storage box containing your needed materials is near your workbench, meaning you'll likely be running back and forth a lot unless you hoard all of your boxes inside one building.

"I'm hoping they do something with the storage situation in a future update," one fan complains on a Reddit post that jokes about 26 storage boxes not being enough. "I want a new storage box that is universal and crosses worlds so I don’t have to go back to other locations to grab materials. Let us build freely," another players says.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons' initially clunky crafting was also met with the same criticisms at launch, but its most recent 3.0 update streamlined the process, letting you automatically craft with materials in your storage without having to fish out the right items every single time. And Pokopia players are now hoping for a similar quality-of-life improvement.

"My biggest problem in Pokopia is storage," a player on Twitter says. "I need sooo much more space than there is, I don't want a million chests. I wish it was like ACNH."

"One end game item Pokopia could use is cloud chests that any workbenchs can access no matter where you are. I often find myself having to constantly load back to my "main storage" town," another player tweets.

In less than a week, Pokopia shifted 2.2 million copies to become one of the best-selling Switch 2 games and Pokemon spin-offs of all time. With all the critical acclaim and commercial success, I wouldn't be shocked to see The Pokemon Company continue supporting Pokopia into the future, hopefully with some quality-of-life updates sooner rather than later.

I thought nothing could replace Animal Crossing for my nightly cozy vibes, but Pokopia's delightfully unhinged dialogue is very tempting: "It's a pretty nice butt, don't you think? So shiny!"
