Fallout season 3 will incorporate "a few things from the game that we've wanted to do since season one," says showrunner Geneva Robertson-Dworet

Fallout season 3 is on the way, with co-showrunner Geneva Robertson-Dworet teasing the introduction of new elements from the games that were excluded from previous seasons. "We know The Ghoul is heading to Colorado, ideally, but in the Wasteland, thou shalt be sidetracked by bullshit every goddamn time," she joked during an exclusive interview with SFX magazine.

"He still needs to figure out exactly where he’s going," Robertson-Dworet continued. "Of course, Lucy and Max and many of our other characters are not necessarily heading to Colorado, so we’re very excited to unveil new locations next season. In Fallout, you’re always journeying and exploring and building your map out bigger, so that’s what we want to be mimetic of."

As the world of Fallout grows, so does the connection to the games. "That’s such a core component of Fallout, so the show is always going to get bigger and bigger – and explore new regions. There are definitely a few things from the game that we’ve wanted to do since season one. Now, it’s narratively the right time to get to them – but I don’t want to say more than that and spoil it," the co-showrunner teased.

After how we left things off (you can read all about it in our Fallout season 2 ending explained guide), we're expecting a lot of surprises and excitement from the upcoming new episodes. As Robertson-Dworet said, the previous season already teased a new setting in Colorado, but there is still a lot to know about what's in store for Ella Purnell's Lucy, Walton Goggins' The Ghoul, and the rest of the characters.

When asked about the future of the story, Max actor Aaron Moten told SFX, "I’m sure there will be more chaos. Much more chaos. I’m excited to get to be back at work with my good friend Ella. It will be really fun – and we’re both really excited to hit the ground running again."

Fallout producer Jonathan Nolan recently said that the team wants to make a practical Liberty Prime Alpha suit for season 3, so it definitely feels like things are ramping up ahead of the next chapter.

Fallout recently wrapped its second season on Prime Video. Speaking exclusively to GamesRadar+, Robertson-Dworet and executive producer Todd Howard discussed how those major season 2 twists may have just changed video game canon.
