Amazon's new James Bond movie is "moving along quite nicely," says screenwriter

Screenwriter Steven Knight says progress is coming along quite nicely on Amazon's upcoming James Bond movie.

"I mean, I can’t give any details, obviously, but I’m loving it. It’s so much fun," Wright told Variety. When asked if we would get some updates soon, Wright replied, "Depends on what you mean by 'soon,' but yeah. I mean, things are moving along quite nicely."

There was quite an uproar among fans last year when longtime Bond producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli sold creative control over to Amazon for some $20 million (which is a lot less than initially speculated, given that the franchise itself is worth over $1 billion). Spirits were lifted, however, when it was announced that legendary filmmaker Denis Villeneuve would direct the new pic, with Amy Pascal and David Heyman tapped to produce.

The question remains: who will be the next James Bond? It was thought that Aaron Taylor-Johnson would play 007, or that he was, at the very least, the first choice. A 2025 report, however, stated that Amazon was looking to go much younger for Bond... i.e. the likes of Tom Holland (which would be his dream given that his pitch for a young Bond movie turned into Uncharted) or Jacob Elordi (which I'm absolutely game for).
