PS5 restock updates - Your guide to buying a PlayStation 5

PS5 restocks are still available, even if old reliable retailers Walmart and BT are making things a little more difficult this week. However, you'll still find PS5 stock on the shelves today, and we've had advance warning of more drops in the next week as well.

Cutting straight to today's headlines; Sony has stock of the Horizon bundle on the shelves still, but if you're not interested in picking up a game with your order we'd recommend heading straight to Amazon. The online giant has been offering email invites regularly for a couple of weeks now, and the next drop is due on September 16. Be sure to sign up with an email address you check regularly - if you're lucky, you'll receive an exclusive link to buy PS5 on Friday.

In the UK, you'll want to head to Sony or BT. The former is offering consoles by themselves at the new £479.99 RRP, a rarity these days. Meanwhile, the latter has some of the cheapest bundles around right now, but they are reserved for BT customers at the time of writing. We have seen those restrictions popping in and out at BT, so we'd recommend checking in regularly.

You'll find all the latest PS5 restock action just below, as well as the retailers you should be checking every day and our own top tips for finding new stock further down the page.

Where to buy PS5 today

You'll find the current PS5 stock situation as of 12.37pm ET / 5.37pm BST on Tuesday September 13, 2022 below.

UK - Sony | standalone consoles in stock
We're seeing consoles in stock by themselves right now at Sony Direct, though you're still paying that increased £479.99 RRP. Still, this is the cheapest way of picking up a PS5 right now (and the cheapest we've seen in a long time).

UK - BT | Cheapest bundles available (BT customers only)
BT customers can get exclusive access to some of the cheapest bundles available right now. You can pick up a console and DualSense controller for £508 right now. If you're not a customer, no worries - we've seen this retailer opening its PS5 stock to the masses regularly over the last week so it's always worth checking back.

PS5 restocks - US

Even in bundle format, we're still chasing PS5 restocks across the US. Things are by no means as bad as they once were, though, and we're even seeing some bundles holding their positions on the shelves at Walmart and Sony. Every retailer works differently, though, so you'll find all our learnings over the past two years of tracking PS5 stock just below.

Amazon - next restock September 16
We've been seeing Amazon's PS5 restock game stepping up over the last few weeks. With drops on September 2 and 9, and now the next wave due on the 16th, things are getting pretty regular. We'd recommend signing up for email invites as soon as possible if you haven't already done so.

Walmart - Last restock September 9
Walmart had a Horizon Forbidden West bundle on the shelves for a record amount of time over the last two weeks, with stock showing up day after day without wavering. However, it seems this honeymoon has come to an end, with the console unavailable today.

GameStop - last restock August 20
Things are picking up at GameStop with PS5 stock seemingly coming in at least once a week on a regular basis recently. Wednesdays or Thursdays seem to be your best bet. Bundles are often available, so if you spot any you like, dive in as they sell out (slightly) slower than solo consoles. It's also worth noting that we're seeing more in-store buying options at GameStop now as well.

Target - last restock April 15
Target has moved to an in-store first approach, which means you'll be able to scout out local stock without competing against the entire country. The last time we saw an online PS5 restock here was back in April, so we'd recommend checking your regional availability.

Best Buy - last restock July 22
This store hasn't been as prolific of late, but given the huge reach we'd never count it out. We've given up trying to predict Best Buy PS5 days as the Thursday/Friday pattern it once favored has been all over the place lately with weekend and Monday drops popping up at random. Great, more randomness. The good news is you no longer need to be a Total Tech Member to take advantage of restocks - July's drop was open to everyone.

PS5 restocks - UK

Bundles are still widely available in the UK, but we're not seeing any £499.99 Horizon Forbidden West packages on the shelves today. Instead, retailers are piling in more and more games and accessories to bump up the price tag a little further. Still, you're getting your money's worth here, with no inflated costs above MSRP.

BT - cheapest bundle £508 (BT customers only)
BT likes to switch it up every now and then. While we were seeing this stock available for everyone on certain days last week, it has now been restricted to BT customers once again. Still, these are some of the cheapest bundles around, so if you're not a customer we'd still recommend checking in regularly to see if the rules have changed.

Game - cheapest bundle £529.99
Game is the ruler of bundles, throwing in t-shirts, caps, DualSense carry cases, and - of course - the off game and controller. Again, these will run you further up the price scale, but we see them holding stock particularly well.

Argos - cheapest bundle £569.99
Argos works on a post-code basis, so not everyone will be able to take advantage of the bundles on offer. We see a few pop up every now and then, but right now the cheapest offer is a £569.99 package including Horizon Forbidden West, a DualSense controller, and a Stealth headset.

Currys - cheapest bundle £649
Currys has had a selection of bundles up for grabs for a few weeks now, but after spotting some higher priced options on the shelves earlier in the week, things are looking a little scarce right now. A £649 FIFA 23, Lego Star Wars: Skywalker Saga, and DualSense bundle is available for delivery at the end of the month.

Amazon - last PS5 restock August 9
Amazon UK has recently joined the US in offering email invites for its customers. That's about the only way you'll be able to buy a PS5 outside of a bundle in the UK right now, so if you're looking to spend as little as possible it's well worth getting your name registered. You'll receive an email when the time comes to place your order, but note that Amazon doesn't guarantee stock for everyone who signs up.

Studio - last restock September 9
Studio's latest PS5 restock gave us a£579 bundle, including an extra controller and a copy of Gran Turismo 7 thrown in. That's costing out at the previous price of the console itself, with plenty of value baked in. However, those consoles have now run off the shelves.

Very - Last restock September 1
We saw Very's last round of consoles drop yesterday, with a Horizon Forbidden West bundle available for £499. However, availability seems to be all out at the moment. We'd recommend checking in regularly here, though, as Very has offered some of the better priced bundles on the shelves, especially since the price hike.

Our PS5 restock top tips

We've been tracking PS5 restocks since the console launched, scouring the web day after day for even a hint of a DualSense on the shelves. That means we've seen hundreds of drops come and go and resisted the urge to dive into each and every one ourselves. We've certainly picked up some tips and tricks to finding these elusive drops along the way.

Should you buy PS5 restock bundles?

Picking up a PS5 by itself is far more difficult than finding it bundled up with some games and accessories. Retailers prefer to package extra kit into their listings, and they do tend to stick around on the shelves a lot longer. We'd always recommend checking the value of the additional PS5 accessories you're buying against the total of the bundle, however, to make sure you're not being ripped off - you should only ever pay MSRP for anything you find.

Is it still hard to buy PS5?

The state of PS5 stock today depends on your region. In the US, individual consoles are particularly difficult to locate and even bundles represent a rare opportunity. However, over in the UK we're seeing far more bundles holding their position on the shelves (standalone consoles are still rare).

Another item you might want to pick up once you've been able to buy a PS5 is one of the options on our best PS5 external hard drives page to increase your storage capacity. Or if you've got the need for speed, the best PS5 SSD might be worth a look.
