Marvel and Star Wars D23 panel LIVE – every new announcement as it happens

Get ready for something very special indeed. Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm (the studio behind Star Wars), and 20th Century Fox are joining forces for a bumper D23 panel – so expect plenty of surprise announcements, reveals, and new footage from some of your favorite franchises.

In short, there will be fireworks. And we're there too. We'll provide you with up-to-the-minute updates from our team on the ground. The panel (which begins at 10:00 AM Pacific/1:00 PM Eastern) isn’t being streamed, so stick with Total Film right here and on social media for updates from the LA convention floor. We will help you keep your finger on the pulse of what could be an incredible few hours crammed with shocks and surprises. For more on D23, check out the full D23 2022 schedule.

Hello and welcome! The last time Marvel took to the stage at D23, it unveiled the likes of Moon Knight and She-Hulk to the world. Three years on, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has expanded even further. The Multiverse Saga is now the phrase on everyone's lips, and Kevin Feige could be about to drop some bombshells surrounding the MCU's next Kang-shaped arc.

While Marvel Studios may have already unveiled its Marvel Phase 5 slate – and announced two new Avengers movies, no less – at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, there is still plenty that could be revealed later today. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is the MCU’s next entry, and we wouldn’t be surprised to hear more about it here at the D23 panel. And that's just for starters.

Looking further afield, there have been rumblings about the Fantastic Four. Might we clap eyes on the MCU’s Reed Richards and Sue Storm for the first time? And what about a Doctor Doom announcement? Plus, there are those pesky gaps in the Marvel Phase 6 schedule that still need to be filled. The full list of upcoming Marvel movies will become much clearer very soon.

Things are much more unknown in a galaxy far, far away. The Mandalorian season 3 had a trailer for convention-goers at Star Wars Celebration, while the likes of Ahsoka and Skeleton Crew are also on the way to Disney Plus. And what of 2023’s mystery Star Wars movie, potentially directed by Taika Waititi? The D23 panel is the best time to announce something. Lucasfilm will no doubt pull out some other surprises too – at Star Wars Celebration, they showed off a trailer for Willow and teased Indiana Jones 5. Could we finally get an official title?

20th Century Fox will also be on hand. We're expecting a second trailer for Avatar: The Way of Water, which is set to reach cinemas later this year.

It all kicks off at 10:00 AM Pacific/1:00 PM Eastern/6:00 PM BST. Be sure to follow Total Film on Twitter and stay right here for the latest updates.

Marvel, Star Wars, Lucasfilm, and 20th Century may be taking center stage today, but yesterday was Disney and Pixar's turn to dazzle convention-goers.

Missed it? Here's what happened: The Little Mermaid's live-action remake debuted its first trailer and we also heard more about Barry Jenkins' Lion King movie, now titled Mufasa: The Lion KIng.

That's not all. Inside Out is getting a surprise sequel over at Pixar. The legendary animation studio also offered up a first look at its new movie, Elemental. Plus, it announced a new space adventure flick. Elio is currently set for spring 2024.

If you believe the Marvel rumor mills, we could be getting everything from a Deadpool 3 reveal to Denzel Washington rocking up to the MCU as Dracula. Yes, really. Whatever happens next, expect several internet-breaking announcements.

Things in a galaxy far, far away, however, might be a little more muted by comparison. There are currently no movies being filmed (though several are planned), though we expect to hear more from The Mandalorian season 3 seeing as how that's only five months away now.

20th Century Studios, too, could bring the goods. More Alien, perhaps?

Five minutes to go...

Excited? Nervous? While we aren't expecting as many surprises as San Diego Comic-Con, the two-hour panel should still deliver the goods. In terms of realistic announcements, both Loki season 2 and Ahsoka are currently filming so don't expect too much from them outside of minor teasers and announcements.

Fantastic Four casting is the big news on everyone's lips. John Kransinski was a frontrunner for the longest time but his quick cameo in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness may have paved the way for another version of the character to appear in the MCU's Earth-616 instead. Thunderbolts, announced earlier this year, could also reveal its cast. We predicted The Thunderbolts lineup already and (hopefully) won't be too embarrassed looking back on that later today.

What else is on our wishlist? Indiana Jones 5 should be here in some capacity, and there's been plenty of buzz around what could be Harrison Ford's last crack at the whip.

A reminder, as lights go down for the panel, that the D23 Studio Showcase isn't being streamed anywhere. For all the latest updates and breaking news from the floor, stick with us and follow Total Film on Twitter. Be sure to put notifications on too!

Walt Disney Chairman Alan Bergman is here to unveil the new Disney 100 logo and "100 years of wonder" motto.
