Xbox Games with Gold October 2021: Resident Evil Code: Veronica X and more
The Xbox Games with Gold October 2021 lineup has been revealed, with new free games for Xbox Live Gold members rolling in throughout the spookiest month.
The next set of four games will start arriving on Friday, October 1, bringing in a mix of music-infused movement and horrifying action. The first wave of games will roll out on October 1 with Aaero and Castlevania: Harmony of Despair, while the second will follow starting on October 16 with Hover and Resident Evil Code: Veronica X. None of these titles are native to Xbox Series X, but Microsoft's huge investment into backwards compatibility means they're all playable there (as well as on Xbox One).

Aaero: October 1 - 31
The world is your visualizer in this rhythm-powered, high-speed action game originally released for Xbox One. You control a ship that rides ribbons of light through a dilapidated yet beautiful world as you take on strange foes to the beat of licensed tracks from Noisia, Flux Pavilion, Katy B, and many more electronic musicians.
Hover: October 16 - November 15
Leap, grind, and vibe your way through a neon future cityscape in this free-wheeling kinetic Xbox One action game that proudly wears its Jet Set Radio inspiration on its sleeve. Speaking of which, Jet Set Radio composer Hideki Naganuma even contributed to its soundtrack, so you know the beats are in check.
Castlevania: Harmony of Despair: October 1 - 15
Harmony of Despair is an Xbox 360 co-op mash-up of the Castlevania series from Symphony of the Night through Order of Ecclesia. Up to 6 players can team up and take control of familiar protagonists such as Alucard and Soma Cruz as they jump, slash, and, um, magic their way through the creepy castle's greatest hits collection.
Resident Evil Code: Veronica X: October 16 - 31
This direct follow-up to Resident Evil 2 turns the focus from Raccoon City (which is now an irradiated crater) to a remote prison island just in time for another zombie outbreak. You control both Claire and Chris Redfield in the course of the story which was originally released on Dreamcast then ported to PS2 (and, later, Xbox 360).
