Xbox Games with Gold July 2021: Planet Alpha, Rock of Ages 3, and more
The Xbox Games with Gold July 2021 lineup is official, with a new set of four downloadable games that are yours to keep as part of your Gold subscription - which means you also get them as part of your bundled-up subscriptions if you're an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscriber.
The next set of free Xbox Games with Gold will begin to roll out on July 1, offering up four titles throughout the month and into August: Planet Alpha and Conker: Live & Reloaded arrive first, then Rock of Ages 3: Make & Break and Midway Arcade Origins will follow on the 16th. While some are pulled from Xbox One and others from previous generations, each and every one will be playable on Xbox One and Xbox Series X and S thanks to backwards compatibility.

Planet Alpha: July 1 - 31
Solve puzzles with the power of time in this sidescrolling adventure inspired by classics such as Another World (or Out of this World as it was known in North America). You'll explore a strange world and struggle to survive even as you admire the colorful, semi-abstract beauty of your surroundings, and use your ability to change day into night and vice versa to solve mind-bending puzzles.
Rock of Ages 3: Make & Break July 16 - August 15
The closest thing to playing one of those Monty Python interstitial animations is Rock of Ages 3: Make & Break, a slapstick physics action game which builds ever grander ambitions upon the simple framework of rolling a giant boulder through semi-historical settlements. On top of the gleefully bizarre campaign, you can make your own custom levels to share with friends, and even engage in a competitive tower defense mode.
Conker: Live & Reloaded: July 1 - 15
This original Xbox remake of notorious adult (or at least definitely not for kids) N64 comedy game Conker's Bad Fur Day also includes an all-new online multiplayer mode. It's very much a historical oddity from the early days of Xbox Live, but even if you're mostly just here for the campaign it will be worth trying to find an online match with all the new players pouring in from its Xbox Games with Gold inclusion.
Midway Arcade Origins: July 16 - 31
It's some kind of double-classic situation as this Xbox 360 era compilation of more than 30 games from Midway's arcade heyday comes to Xbox Games with Gold. Classics such as Joust, Sinistar, Defender, and Gauntlet are shoo-ins, of course, but don't forget to broaden your horizons with a little Toobin' and Wizard of Wor as well.
